I was struck by just how amazing God has been to us.  I don’t have a husband who just pretends to be a good dad when we go out in public, I have a husband who truly loves and adores his family.  It is incredible to step back and take in just how incredible my dearest Dan is.  He cares and loves me like no other, my life would be so incomplete without him.  From the time he gets up to the time he goes to bed he serves as a Godly example for our family to follow.  Our little girl adores him, that is the only word for it.  I know there may be other men in the world that do it, but he never seems to mind combing her little pony’s hair or playing with dolls.  My heart melts when I see her putting lotion on her face just like daddy does after she finishes watching him shave in the morning.  Watching the two of them run through the sprinklers is hilarious.  She knows without a doubt he will always make time for her.  I love it.

Thanks Dan for being such an incredible daddy.  I look forward to watching you with both of our children very soon.  I love you.

As I was surfing through the channels, I came across MTV’s “16 and Pregnant.” Normally I would have kept right on going, but some of the girls in our middle school Sunday School class had commented about it and I was curious as to what they were watching.

Wow. Seriously, wow. It was disturbing to me as a mom, youth worker, and a regular citizen. Basically it shows the triumphs and struggles that a teen goes through while preparing and having her baby. I am all about “knowledge is power” but this was crazy. I don’t know if they try to pick the girls that live in a world where setting up the baby’s room, holding hands with the “baby daddy,” and doing a baby registry is all there is to it, but that is how it seemed. Even the girl’s parents discussed her sex life like it was no big deal that she wasn’t married. I felt like going through the television and shaking them honestly.

I am constantly amazed about the way some people go through life with blinders on.

We had a service at the church this evening where we watched the movie.  Stopped for communion just after they have the first Lord’s Supper in the movie, then resumed.

It was an amazing service.  A thought provoking time whether you are a new christian or have been saved for a decade.

My heart broke as a mother, as a Christ follower, as just an observer.  How Mary was able to endure that day let alone everything that came before and after had to be because of God’s grace and mercy.  I have heard about his nail scarred hands my whole life, but as a visual thinker, seeing a depiction of it was powerful.  The people there that day had to have been affected when they went to their homes that night.  I can’t believe it to be otherwise.

It was truly an incredible evening at Cross Point tonight, I know I won’t forget it.

I probably should mention first off that I am pregnant.  At twenty weeks and counting I am big enough not to fit into anything I would normally wear but small enough that my maternity clothes sag.  I am in the lovely “Is she pregnant or just eating too many Oreo cookies?” stage.  The pregnancy has gone pretty well, I was very sick early on but am now loving life and experiencing serious heartburn on a regular basis.  Normal preggo stuff.

So when I am pregnant I have some crazy dreams.  Dan has encouraged me to to share one in particular.  Victoria’s Secret called.  They were short one model for their upcoming bikini shoot and needed me to fill in.  (At 5’2″ this is laughable, when you combine my lovely baby bump, it is crazy.)  So I go to the shoot and find myself the envy of the other models with my “natural” curves.  One or two of the others go so far as to tell me I don’t even look pregnant, they couldn’t hardly tell.  After the pictures are taken, they give me a Heidi Klum offer and ask me to walk the runway after our new baby is born.  That’s where I wake up and well…start laughing hysterically.  I could hardly wait to tell my beloved about it.  Needless to say when I saw the next VS ad in the paper, I was no where to be found.  Oh well.

She set Dan’s shoes on the coffee table.  I said, “No, no.  Daddy’s shoes are dirty.”  She immediately took them off the table (one at a time) and walked away.  This is how I found them when I walked into our room a bit later.
