Dan Rocks!

October 27, 2008 at 9:19 pm (Love) (, , )

For the past few weeks, my husband has been talking to my folks on a regular basis.  At first I could not figure out why in the world he would have need to do such a thing.  Don’t get me wrong, we have a great relationship with my parents just as we do with his parents, but it isn’t exactly normal for him to just call either set up to chat and tell them about his day.  It seems that all this time, he was working to coordinate things for my birthday!  Dan did a lot of work to get everything just right, it was awesome.

He and Rabun gave me a pleater.  For those of you who don’t know, this helps to get fabric pleated and ready to smock, it is a rather handy piece of equipment.  I have wanted one for a super long time, so I am very excited about it.  My Dad made a pleater board to mount the machine on, it is gorgeous.  He and Mom did a great job of not letting me in on any of the plans.  Mr. Sonny and Mrs. Mary were wonderful and had special ordered some dress patterns as well as design plates.  I am super excited about everything, I am going to have a lot of fun figuring out how to use all of my new things.

Most of all, my husband made this birthday fantastic.  He always spoils me, but with all of this he went over the top and I am very grateful for it.  All of his hard work and careful planning mean so much to me.  This has been an amazing birthday!

Rabun’s Check-Up

October 20, 2008 at 8:48 pm (Family) (, , , )

Rabun had an ever so wonderful Doctor’s appointment today.  Everything went really well, she is a happy, healthy, growing baby.  The funny thing is that she is only a little over twelve pounds, so she is in the twentieth percentile for weight.  In other words, a small fry.  She is 25 1/2″ long which puts her in the eightieth percentile for height.  We have a long, lean baby on our hands which if you have seen Dan and I, is pretty funny.

She likes to check everything out and take it all in.

Size Matters

October 15, 2008 at 8:42 pm (Family, random thoughts) (, , )

A Saturn Outlook commercial comes on, it says that the vehicle has seating for eight.  I turn to Dan and say, “Isn’t it interesting that all these cars are coming out lately that supposedly have room for seven or eight people.”  Dan’s response, “Not for Perdue butts.”

Hahaha.

No Ham

October 9, 2008 at 6:57 am (Love) (, , , )

Dan and I attended a wedding Saturday.  I can’t help but reminisce about our own as we will have been married just two years this December.  At one point, the groom was emotional and had tears streaming down his face.  On the ride from the church I asked Dan if he cried on our wedding day.  As far as I could remember, we were just too giddy and excited, no tears.  His answer however was an absolute shock.  He simply said, “Yes.”  I quickly searched my brain to see if I could conjure up the moment that he was brought to tears, no luck.  So I asked, “When did you cry?  I can’t recall it.”  He turned to me so seriously and said, “When I realized there wasn’t any ham packed in the basket.”  I wanted to strangle him!  When he thinks of our special day, the wedding food that was packed up is what comes to mind?  Honestly, it was another hilarious moment thanks to Dan, who truly does remember the ham not being there.  Oh the joys of marriage!

A Welcome at WalMart?

October 8, 2008 at 8:29 pm (random thoughts) (, , )

I had to pick up two things at WalMart just before church this evening.  The strangest thing happend…the greeter actually greeted!  Usually they just stand there or talk to their friends and look irritated that you are disturbing them, but I actually got a smile and a “Welcome to WalMart.”  What makes it even more exciting is it wasn’t the grandmotherly type you might expect this from, but rather a younger woman.  Our WalMart is horrid about non-greeting greeters, so I wanted to share my oddly pleasant encounter!
