My body is a what?

May 28, 2008 at 12:04 pm (random thoughts) (, , , , )

Last night, Dan looked at me and began to sing a John Mayer song to me.  He started with, “Your body is a Wonderland….” then proceeded, “with a roller coaster in the middle!”

That is right, he really did say it and it was hysterical.  Note to everyone else out there, please make sure that your pregnant wife is completely comfortable with things like this before you try it at your own home.

My Dear Younger Brother

May 25, 2008 at 8:05 pm (Family) (, , , )

Jordan and I went to dinner just the two of us last night, we had a really nice time.  Jordan has always been really quite funny to me, he is such a big goober that it is hard to take him too seriously.  I swear he explained to at least three if not four different people on staff at the restaurant that I was his sister, not his “baby mama.”  Wow.  I guess to an eighteen year old I probably have some serious disorder since I am with child, but it was hysterical how before the server could get “Welcome to the Olive Garden” out of her mouth, he was explaining that we were siblings, not “a couple.”  Ah, brotherly love!

Just a Wash

May 13, 2008 at 8:40 am (Uncategorized)

I just called one of the new local pet shops to see how much they would charge to wash our two pointers. The more pregnant I feel the less I want to wash our dogs. I usually get my little brother Jordan to do it pretty cheap, but thought I would look for other venues just in case he can’t get to it over the next few days. When the gentleman answered I explained that all I needed was a simple wash, nothing fancy. After consulting with one of his co-workers, he gets back on the line to tell me what he found out. I would not be overly shocked to hear $20 per dog. Oh no. That is not the case. He tells me it will be $45 per dog. Honestly, $45? Yeah right. I don’t think so. My hair doesn’t cost that much to get washed, cut, and styled! Needless to say, I will be giving my official dog washer, Jordan, a call this afternoon when he gets out of school.

Baby Laundry

Getting Ready

Yesterday evening I did my first load of laundry just for the baby. What an odd feeling! Honestly, there were a couple of articles of clothing I wasn’t exactly sure which way was best to fold, but the way I see it is if that is the biggest problem I have, our sweet baby is going to have it made!

Deep Moment of the Month

May 2, 2008 at 1:17 pm (random thoughts) (, , )

As the pregnancy progresses, I tend not to have too many deep thoughts or moments.  It just seems like a valuable waste of energy as far as I am concerned right now.  I have however been struggling with nagging worries in the back of my mind.  Not so much about the baby’s health and well being, God is in control of that and I know that he will give us the guidance we need to raise our child in a way which is pleasing to Him.  If you were to ask Dan about this, he would simply tell you that I enjoy worrying.  He is always supportive and willing to listen, but knows I am a chronic worrier.

Recently I have been worried about big life changing decisions that Dan and I are dealing with and how they will affect our growing family long term.  I read Matthew 6:25-34 just a short time ago.  Wow.  It is amazing how God’s words can just jump out of the page and really fill a void or need that you may have.  The passage is entitled “Do Not Worry” which is pretty applicable in this situation.  With that being said, I am really going to be in prayer about putting my worries aside by giving them to God.  I know that He will help us make the appropriate decisions when it comes time.
