Bible Study Challenge

March 31, 2008 at 2:48 pm (random thoughts)

For the women’s bible study that I go to, we are suppose to write five nice things down about an “enemy” or someone that has really caused us to be distressed. Writing down nice qualities I can do because at no point in my life have I ever felt that another individual was absolutely worthless.

In conjunction with that, however, we are to pray for this person each day. Wow. Usually I don’t have that big of a hold up with things like this I am suppose to do, but for some reason I can’t really seem to get focused on that portion the task. It is really difficult to pray with a sincere heart on this topic, I find myself being a little spiteful even when I go to pray about it.

Hopefully I will get over myself soon and get on to what is really important.

The Joys of Insurance

March 26, 2008 at 8:02 pm (Life) (, , )

This is an absolutely hilarious video that really sheds light on how I feel when dealing with insurance.  (In no way am I saying I agree/disagree with the site the cartoon supports, I just think the video is super funny all by itself.)

Close Enough to Perfect for Me

March 25, 2008 at 1:23 pm (Life)

Dan called a few hours ago. His perfect set of teeth are marred. Not horribly, grant you, but enough to ruin his perfect record. Up until today, Dan has literally had no problem with his teeth. No cavities. No braces. Nothing. Today he got some bad news: it seems he has external resorption on one of his front teeth.

I know he appreciates me sharing this with you, but I felt he really needed his friends to circle around him in his time of crisis.

(Hopefully you can tell I am writing this tongue in cheek.  I know it is something that we are going to have to deal with soon and it won’t be all that fun for him.  He honestly sounded more taken aback by being given any type of bad news about his teeth than anything else.)

Happy Easter

March 23, 2008 at 5:45 pm (Family)

Hope everyone is having a fantastic Easter.  As I type this, Dan is in the next room jamming out on Guitar Hero III for the Wii.  He seems to really be enjoying the afternoon, but he is making some pretty interesting faces as he concentrates on jamming out to the best of his ability.

We had an amazing Easter service at the church this morning and it seemed like a really good turnout.  Jeremy was certainly on point.  Afterward, we went to Dad and Mom’s house for lunch.  All I can say is that I took the whole “eating for two” idea literally!

It is awesome to think that this day celebrates something as big as the resurrection of Jesus.  It is probably more than appropriate that I have had The Old Rugged Cross on repeat in my head all day.

Dirt Don’t Hurt

March 11, 2008 at 2:56 pm (Family)

This past week Dan and I went to Boston.  He had a conference up there and I just went for pleasure.  While away, we left our two awesome dogs in the pen and my Dad came over to feed them each day.  When we returned home, they were obviously well fed.  Babe was excited about life but Roy was less than thrilled.  On his belly was this horrid red irritation that had sores and all sorts of scary looking scabs on it.  In his eye, a normally tiny bump was huge and began to bleed if you messed with it.

My younger brother works for the veterinarian in Perry whose office is literally 4 miles away from my office.  Roy spent the day at Houston Fertilizer and Jordan came to pick him up after school to have the vet look at him.

The diagnosis according to Jordan?  Roy is allergic to dirt.  I kid you not, that was honestly what he said.

After calling Dan with the hysterical diagnosis (I can’t remember the last time Dan laughed that hard or that long), I began to think that maybe Jordan left some major detail out and Dr. Bob hadn’t actually said that our German Shorthaired Pointer couldn’t be around dirt.  Once I spoke with my dear brother, it seems that the problem was not simply dirt, but being in constant wet conditions outside (it rained a good bit while we were gone)  in the pen therefore having irritated skin.   That makes so much more sense!
