Something to Save

December 20, 2006 at 10:00 am (Life, random thoughts)

I am a news reading fanatic. I enjoy going to several different news sites to find out what is going on in the world. Very rarely in my reading does anything shock me or make me want to go, “You have got to be kidding me!” I am fully aware that in some parts of the world people are fighting to hold onto what they believe while in other areas some truly mean spirited groups are waging wars just because they can.

I came across an article today that states:

More than nine out of 10 Americans, men and women alike, have had premarital sex, according to a new study. The high rates extend even to women born in the 1940s, challenging perceptions that people were more chaste in the past.

“This is reality-check research,” said the study’s author, Lawrence Finer. “Premarital sex is normal behavior for the vast majority of Americans, and has been for decades.

I understand that by most people’s standards I am a bit naive at times. I like to believe in the greater good of all people. In all honesty, I can’t bring myself to believe that this is the absolute truth. Maybe that is very narrow minded of me, but I just don’t feel that this is the whole story. Some people somewhere have got to have morals and values. I as well as quite a few of my friends all believed in saving ourselves for marriage. That is what God expects of us, the Bible doesn’t waver on the issue. Such an intimate and special bond should be shared with just that one person. It honestly pains me that more people don’t feel the same way. Please don’t get me wrong, I know people that have decided against waiting, which was their decision. I also know others that have waited and still continue to well into their twenties and even a few that are older than that. Okay, now I will get off my soap box.

The Perdues

December 18, 2006 at 2:39 pm (Big Events, Family, Life, Love)

We’re married! Dan and I have been married a little over two weeks at this point and we have had a blast. Each day together has been absolutely amazing.

The wedding turned out to be absolutely gorgeous! It truly was the day I have dreamed of all this time. The whole day went off so well, I was thrilled. My mom and I got there early to get ready for the big day. A few hour’s later Dad brought in breakfast from Don’s Cafe, you don’t get much better than that. Dan and I decided to see each other before the ceremony and I am so glad that we did. We got a chance to really talk to one another before things got too hectic. It was a special time that I wouldn’t give up for anything in the world. When the music began a few hours later (we took pictures after Dan and I met) and attendants started going into the sanctuary I was absolutely giddy. As I was walking down the aisle on my Dad’s arm and could see my sweet Dan there at the front of the church, everything fell into place and I was able to truly enjoy the whole experience. I wish I could write how truly wonderful it all was, but I know I could never do it justice. Let’s just leave it at Dan and I are married and absolutely thrilled with that!

We had an awesome time on the honeymoon! The snow up in Whistler was unbelievable, truly a gorgeous site. We stayed a full week in the Sundial Hotel which had a perfect veiw of the mountains and was rather close to the gondolas for Blackcomb as well as Whistler Mountain. Dan had everything set up and planned out so well, I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Dog sledding was a blast, I would most definitely recommend it if you ever get the chance. We also went snowmobiling while there and honestly, I was rather disappointed. Dan enjoyed skiing on the slopes while I stayed in the village to shop or rest. We really had a fabulous trip.

Even with all of that excitement, we are really glad to be back home. Our huge project at the moment is getting our home set up with all of our things. It is a huge task, but I think we are up to it. We have been able to do a lot this past week since we have been back, but there is still a good deal to do.

Dan and I are excited about life and glad to be the Perdues!
